Before I share my experience, I was reminded of a blog initiative that I undertook when I was at 20:20 MEDIA. Unfortunately, I could not drive it. But that experience atleast helped me in ensuring that we all get an invite to contribute.
Coming back, most of my experience has been in a branch office of a national PR agency. The largest office that I ever worked was 20:20 MEDIA. After four years and being relatively more senior, communication was always verbal (just short of being loud). Talking over phone was an easy exercise.
So now I join my new employer where I am seated with 30-40 colleagues in the same wing. A call comes on my phone; but not my voice. I was so conscious of not being loud. It was quite an experience. For the first time, there are more than 10 people I am working with and it is all small cubicle. If you move your elbow too fast or stretch your leg too wide you end up hitting few neighbours. I was scared raising voice will be met with raised eyebrows.
Now I am quite settled. Able to talk little louder. Guess, it's still better than few of my other ex-colleagues who do not have a permanent place in offices.

hey sriganesh...thanks for your feedback on inviting everybody to post entries. I always wondered why you didn't take your blogging initiative forward...i thought it was really good...Blogging is my current obsession ...iam excited about the prospect of having meaningful dialogues and some not-so meaningful ones with people who have been such an integral part of my life in the last 8 years. Makes a greater difference when you are living so far away from your land and your friends...:-)
Hi Sri,
Thats exactly how I felt when I joined this place. At 20:20 you the person on the other line could not hear you because of so much background noise....and we would always ask each other to shut up...and here it is just the opposite....well..the other person still can't hear you because you are talking so softly fearing that your whisper might reach your neighbour's ears :-)
Hehehe...thats nice to hear and also feel lonely, cause right now am setting up home office and the only voice I hear is mine.
Yup I have taken a plung again and this time am out of the PR industry. Have joined the telecommunication industry... RockeTalk where I head the India operations. Currently am setting up the Marketing and Sales team while the dev centre is up in Delhi and Bangalore.
Its fun and challenging but surely miss the 2020 Madness.
